When this tool is useful
Move a Markdown table into a spreadsheet, data import or analysis workflow while preserving commas and quotation marks safely.
The important edge case
CSV has no standard type metadata, link semantics or formatting. The output contains text values; spreadsheet software may still interpret dates, formula-like text or long numbers automatically.
Three checks before publishing
- Import as UTF-8
- Inspect dates and leading zeroes
- Treat untrusted cells beginning with =, +, - or @ carefully before opening in a spreadsheet
Worked example
Select Load example to place a deliberately small, non-sensitive input in the editor. Convert it, compare every row and then alter one awkward value—such as a comma, quote or vertical bar—to see how the output is escaped. This makes the conversion behaviour visible before you use your own material.
Compatibility
Markdown tables are a common extension rather than part of every minimal Markdown implementation. Preview the result in the exact renderer—such as GitHub, a documentation platform or a static-site generator—that will publish it.
Private, quick and reversible
No account is required and conversion happens in your current browser tab. The tool does not transmit or retain the input, but you should still avoid placing confidential data in any device or browser you do not trust.
